This policy explains what information the Malta Resident Parking Map collects, why, and what your rights are. We aim to collect as little as possible.

Who we are

This site is operated by Jonathan Pace ("we", "us"). For any privacy question or request, contact us via the contact form or at jonathanpace93@gmail.com.

What information we collect

Information you give us when you submit the contact / correction form: your name, email address, the locality or street, the local council/area, the category, your message, and whether you agree to be contacted.
Information stored on your device (local storage): your selected zone, map theme, chosen map layers, and your cookie-consent choices. This stays on your device.
Analytics (only if you consent): usage statistics via Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation and Google Consent Mode (advertising storage stays denied). Nothing is collected until you allow analytics cookies, and you can withdraw at any time.
Advertising (only if you consent): Google AdSense may set cookies and process data to show ads. None loads until you allow advertising cookies.

Why we collect it & our legal basis

To respond to your submissions and improve the map's accuracy — legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give by submitting the form.
To remember your preferences and keep the site secure — legal basis: legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in providing a working, secure service. These are stored on your device, not on our servers.
To measure usage (analytics) and show ads (advertising) — legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Neither runs unless you opt in, and you can withdraw consent at any time.

How your information is used

Form submissions are emailed to the site owner so they can be reviewed and acted upon. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers (processors) that operate the site on our behalf:

Web3Forms — delivers contact-form submissions to us by email. See their privacy policy.
Vercel — hosts the website and processes server logs. See their privacy policy.
Google Analytics (only with your analytics consent) — measures site usage. See Google's privacy policy.
Google AdSense (only with your advertising consent) — serves and measures ads. See Google's privacy policy.

Some providers may process data outside the EU/EEA; where they do, they rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Data retention

We keep contact-form submissions for up to 24 months after your enquiry is resolved, then delete them, unless we need to keep them longer to comply with a legal obligation or to handle an ongoing matter. Preferences and consent choices stored on your device remain until you clear them. Consent records are kept as evidence for as long as required.

Your rights & data deletion requests

Under the GDPR you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and you can object to or restrict its processing. To make a request, contact us via the contact form or at jonathanpace93@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Maltese Information and Data Protection Commissioner (IDPC).

Children

This site is intended for general use and is not directed at children. In line with Maltese law, we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, a fresh consent prompt.
