Data sources & how we keep the map accurate
The Malta Resident Parking Map is a community-focused project. It brings together official regulations, published notices, open data, and reports from people on the ground into one easy-to-read map — covering not just parking, but also public transport (buses and ferries), the outdoors (cycling, hiking, nature areas and campsites) and everyday services (EV charging, petrol stations, public toilets, police stations, hospitals & clinics, pharmacies and government offices).
What that means for you
- The information here is community-focused and continuously improved.
- Information may occasionally be incomplete.
- Information may occasionally become outdated as rules change.
- Always verify against official sources and on-street signage before relying on it.
- Corrections are encouraged — please submit a correction if you spot something wrong.
Where the data comes from
We aim to use official or reliable sources wherever possible, including:
- Transport Malta and Government of Malta publications
- Maltese legislation (e.g. controlled-parking scheme regulations, S.L. 363.80)
- Local councils and their notices / bye-laws
- Official car park and Park & Ride operators — e.g. MCP Car Parks, CC Car Parks, ctPark, Eden Leisure, Pender Gardens and Malta Public Transport (Park & Ride)
- Other government departments for individual records — e.g. the Animal Health & Welfare Department (veterinary services)
- Directories, travel guides and local press used as secondary corroboration for individual entries — Parkopedia, Malta Uncovered, Lovin Malta, MaltaToday, TVM News, Yellow Malta and Visit Gozo (each record shows its own source link)
- OpenStreetMap contributors (street geometry — © OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL)
- Public-transport, outdoors and amenity overlays from OpenStreetMap contributors (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL) — bus routes & stops, ferry routes, cycling routes & bike lanes, hiking trails, protected nature areas, campsites, EV charging points, public toilets, police stations, hospitals & clinics, pharmacies, petrol stations and government & public services offices
- On-street signage photographs and community reports
Each record carries a verification status. Where information cannot be independently confirmed, it is clearly marked as approximate or unverified rather than presented as fact.
A community effort
This map gets better every time someone reports a change. It is community-maintained, your submissions improve its accuracy, and the data is refined over time.
